Our Mission
The GEMs foundation was founded by individuals that have had first hand experience with the issues dealing with parents, friends and family members that have been incarcerated. It is through this experience that has help them develop programs and initiatives for those that are sometimes forgotten...The children.
It is even more important the youth that are also dealing with this issue get even more reinforcement in the areas of self empowerment and awareness, education, mentoring support and many other supportive aspects of growing into productive members of our society.
This is the primary mission of GEMS.

We cultivate future leaders and entrepreneurs by providing educational assistance, recreation, social skill development, and civic engagement opportunities.
Our programs have been developed to specifically focus on the needs of this particular undeserved group of people. Not only the youth but also their families and support systems. It is important that we all work together to help develop the child to reach their full potential.

Assets Of Development
The GEMs Foundation will focus on the following assets of development for the youth that we will work with:
- Positive open communication with parents and children that is often and respectful.
- Fostering healthy relationships with positive nonparent adults who provide support.
- Creating opportunities for youth to serve in the community with adult support and approval.
- Young person spends three or more hours per week in sports, clubs, or organizations at school and/or in community.
- Young person can validate doing at least one hour of homework every school day.
